If you're in the mood for a pancake breakfast, come on out to Lorain County Regional Airport this Sunday, December 6 from 9am-12pm for a pancake breakfast. Women in Aviation is organizing this benefit in an effort to raise money for a scholarship award to help support and defray the cost of pilot training for women entering the aviation field.
It's a great cause so come out to show your support and stay for the breakfast! Oh yeah- if I didn't mention it already, there will be pictures with Santa! For a small donation to the scholarship fund you can show your support and get a photo with Santa so bring the kids!
See you there!

Huge apologies to our fans & clients! I have been sidelined with a back injury for a little over a month now. This has made it impossible to conduct any photoshoots. It has not been a healthy situation for my "day job" either. Getting up/down & driving are challenging. Right now, rest & physical therapy are all I'm allowed to engage in. Nevertheless, we will get this train back on the tracks & get it moving in the right direction just as soon as possible. To those who have been looking forward to shooting, we will make it happen! In December I'll begin to slowly work back into shooting to test the waters a bit. If that goes well, I'll schedule a few more & so on. Thanks for hanging in there with me! Be sure to contact me & let me know as soon as possible when you might want to shoot in December or January. The more I know ahead of time, the easier I hope it will be to accommodate everyone. In the meantime, be well and God bless!

So I've been doing photographie for what seems like my whole life. When I was growing up, I just loved being behind the camera (probably because I hated being in front of it so much, haha!). Anyway, I loved art and I loved taking pics. Through many twists and turns, I decided to try photographie as a business. So here I am...
I've started my own business called Eric Kelly Photographie and I've begun a lifetime of learning. I'm learning how to run a business at the same time as learning the art of photographie. I didn't go to school for business or photographie and frankly, I don't know which is harder to learn! I had no real mentors to teach me things along the way (although I tried to enlist some help but no one was interested). I've learned by reading and doing and falling down and getting up and repeating and repeating and repeating... I wish every shoot hit the bull'seye- they rarely do. I have to force myself to get back up on the horse almost weekly but I gladly do it because I just love when a shoot does hit. I love producing images that make people gasp. I love the art and the science of photographie. I love it, so I keep working. Every photographer has their own style and every customer has their own likes. Check us out and see what we do: Portraits, weddings and art. There's something here for everyone.
We keep working on things behind the scenes here at Eric Kelly Photographie. I am trying to figure out how to make our website prettier. We're working on passing on our knowledge to some great friends who also enjoy the art of photographie and love assisting us with our shoots. We want you to be a part of our growth and our success too! Come shoot with us. Have a great time and let us change the way you see yourself. We'll probably be announcing some specials soon, so stay tuned and get in on the action. We're gonna keep working because photographie is what we love to do!
Peace & love-
Eric & Ragan

I was sitting up at 3:30am rocking our baby back to sleep. I had nothing to do but think as I rocked and patted and walked and walked and walked... I thought about what a great summer this has been. Ragan and I had a wonderful (even if she doesn't always sleep) baby girl. Ragan had some great baby shoots and I had a great time with my friend and new assistant Mike shooting a wedding for a wonderful, fun couple.
Don't get me wrong, it wasn't all wine and roses. I didn't get to play hockey at all and I've been so busy I haven't even gotten the motorcycle out of the garage yet. :( I didn't shoot as many shoots as I would've liked to and I'm still not where I want to be with my technique, style, workflow...you name it, I'm striving for better. With fall approaching, I'll be busy working on things like expanding my comfort zone with natural light, perfecting new flash setups and working unique poses.
Although my 'day' job can make scheduling sessions quite difficult, I look forward to more shoots coming our way. I will keep trying to make blog posts. I will be forever grateful to Ragan for making Facebook posts (I personally hate FB and would not be on it at all except for the fact that it's a great way to connect with people so they can see what we do). Keep checking in on us and when you're ready, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and schedule a shoot! In the meantime, fall is coming which, to me, means the World Series and the start of hockey season- can't wait to share with my daughter! What could be better? Peace!

Ok so I have done a horrible job over the last 8 months in keeping this blog up to date. "The buck stops here" as the saying goes- It's my fault. It's not something that I'm good at because I don't really know what to say. I assume that no one wants to hear about the meaningless drivel in my life. I'm not one for a lot of meaningless chat and I feel like I'm just going to be boring and uninteresting when it comes to blog posts.
Well, I admit failure and I apologize to those who have expected more.
Sometimes, failure IS an option. Failure makes us stronger and often wiser. I'm not a scientist or anything but I heard on some science-like show that humans actually HAVE to fail to learn properly. Evidently, it's the way the brain is wired. Clearly, my brain is wired this way!
I've titled this post "Renew, Revamp, Rebuild" for a reason. It's something I do everyday. I renew my commitment to the passions in my life again and again. If you are anything like me, life tends to seem like a journey of two steps forward and one step back. It's tiring and it takes work. It takes a conscious effort to constantly renew- but that's what life is all about! Get renewed and re-energized. Get in for the long haul! It takes a certain amount of courage to revamp. We make plans and we break plans. We think we have the answers and we find out we're wrong. I'm learning not to be afraid to revamp. If the road you're on isn't working, we don't always have to torture ourselves- revamp those plans! Come out swinging with a new outlook and a new plan! Rebuilding, for me, is the product of renewing and revamping. To rebuild takes much effort. Rebuilding takes much thought. We want to travel the roads of progress and success but we must first build and often rebuild and maybe rebuild again. We rebuild our faith and our hopes. We rebuild our thoughts and our plans. We build on our failures as they often make the strongest foundations.
We have had a busy year. My wife and I had a beautiful baby girl. We've had some great photoshoots. We want to continue to renew, revamp and rebuild. We invite you to be a part of our rebuilding! Come join us for a photoshoot- allow us to be a part of YOUR rebuilding and come be a part of ours. We thank those who have allowed us to be a part of your lives and we hope to continue to form close relationships with our clients. We want Eric Kelly Photographie to be THE place where relationships, art and photography meet!
